The dramatic change in scenery from nearby Skipton to the tiny village of Malham is what gives Yorkshire its unique character. With the pace of life here, it’s hard to believe that bustling activity at Skipton is just a few miles away.

Malham is a magnet for the Dales tourist, and one of the most impressive features of the whole area is Malham Cove, which presents an awesome sight. The 300ft walls are a challenge to many climbers, although a path at the side leads walkers to the top. Here, in the drystone walls, the farm buildings, and the Cove itself, the geology of this part of the Dales is exposed. This is limestone country.

Malham Tarn is a natural lake standing 375 meters above sea level, making it the highest in the Pennines.

Malham is featured on our 55-minute video Picture Postcard Yorkshire, and can be purchased on line. Click here to find out more.
